A lady brought an old rotary dial phone to a garage sale last week. This kid actually had no clue phones used to have dials…. I worry about this next generation.
Ha! Rotary phones and party lines, remember when? I once tried to explain this to two thirteen year old girls in an antique store. When I explained the party line system, the one girl looked at me like I was nuts. I told her to talk to her grandmother.
Do you remember when you referred to your phone number using words? Ours was Olive-84. And we had FOUR people on our party line. Our phone rang four rings when it was for us. It was quite the celebration when it was cut down to two people….
Oh yes, we had seven people on our original line. Everyone knew everyone’s business. My mother talked in code to some of her friends to keep some privacy. Then there was the neighbor who talked for hours, made my mother so mad. Our original was Trinity-457. Interesting, I can remember that, but I can’t remember today ‘s date. Oh well…
